March 19 - God gives power for His church

"The church then had peace… and it grew in strength and numbers. The believers were walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 9:31

Jon Cosgrove’s STORY

“God nowhere asks anyone to have a large church. He only calls us to do His work, proclaiming His Word to people He loves under the anointing and power of the Holy Spirit to produce results that only He can bring about. The glory then goes to Him alone—not to any denomination, local church, local pastor, or church-growth consultant. That is God’s only plan.” JIM CYMBALA

GOD GIVES POWER FOR HIS CHURCH SO THAT WE CAN SPEAK BOLDLY
** Acts 4
** “I long more and more to be filled with the Spirit, and to see my congregation moved and melted under the Word, as in great revival times, `the place shaken where they are assembled together,’ because the Lord has come in power” ANDREW BONAR

GOD GIVES POWER FOR HIS CHURCH TO TEACH US TO RELY ON HIM TO COME THROUGH
** Matthew 7:7-8 “Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks.”
** “The work of God is not by might of men or by the power of men but by His Spirit. It is by Him the truth convicts and converts, sanctifies and saves. The philosophies of men fail, but the Word of god in the demonstration of the Spirit prevails.” SAMUEL CHADWICK
** Zechariah 4:6 “It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.”

GOD GIVES POWER FOR HIS CHURCH WHEN WE WAIT ON HIS WILL
** “The church that multiplies committees and neglects prayer may be fussy, noisy, enterprising, but it labors in vain and spends its strength for naught. It is possible to excel in mechanics and fail in dynamics. There is an abundance of machinery; what is wanting is power.” SAMUEL CHADWICK
** 1Corinthians 2:3-5 “I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my message and my preaching were very plain. I did not use wise and persuasive speeches, but the Holy Spirit was powerful among you. I did this so that you might trust the power of God rather than human wisdom.”
** Isaiah 61:1-2 “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, because the Lord has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. The Spirit sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captive will be released and prisoners will be freed. The Spirit sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come…”
