Unleashing Worship: PART 5

NEIGHBOR
July 30, 2006

Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Mark 12:29-31 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: `Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."

Who is my neighbor?
l Personal Aspect: Your Community
l Good Samaritan: Luke 10:25-37

Loving your community is an act of worship.
v Romans 12:9-19
v Genuinely love your community ~ “Don't just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
v Work hard at loving your community ~ Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God's people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.
v Love your community even when it’s hard ~ Bless those who persecute you. Don't curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don't be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don't think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God.

Challenge
l RELEASE all emotions to Him…
l REVOLUTIONIZE all your thoughts for Him…
l RENOVATE the way you move for Him…
l REVEAL yourself to Him…
l RADICALLY love people in His name.

We concluded the service by challenging our people to get RIDICULOUS and RUN to REACH out and RESCUE those we know that need Jesus and/or need to be in a more serious relationship with Him. We asked the group to write down their names... when the morning was over, there were 121 names on little post-it-notes on our table/altar in the front. SO CHURCH, we expect that myself and you will be working HARD to Rescue our friends. We should grow as a community not because we want a crowd here on earth, but because we want a crowd around the throne in heaven!

Unleashing Worship: PART 4

SOUL
JULY 23, 2006

Romans 12:1
Mark 12:29-31

Redefining your soul.
v Not talking about floating ghosts after we die.
v Personal Aspect: Your spirit, you, your personality

True worshippers will worship in spirit and in truth. (John 4)
v Be honest with Yourself: Ezekiel 18:30-32 "Therefore, I will judge each of you, O people of Israel, according to your actions, says the Sovereign LORD. Repent, and turn from your sins. Don't let them destroy you! Put all your rebellion behind you, and find yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O people of Israel? I don't want you to die, says the Sovereign LORD. Turn back and live!”
v Be honest with God: Psalm 139

Challenge
l RELEASE all emotions to Him…
l REVOLUTIONIZE all your thoughts for Him…
l RENOVATE the way you move for Him…
l REVEAL yourself to Him…

John 4 (The Message): That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before Him in their worship.

STRENGTH
Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Mark 12:29-31 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: `Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.' The second is equally important: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these."

Defining strength.
l Giving your body to God.
l Personal Aspect: Your Actions

How do you use it?
v Don’t be afraid to dance. à 2Samuel 6:16-23 Read from your Bible.
v 2Chronicles 15:28-29 "So all Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord’s covenant to Jerusalem with SHOUTS of joy, the BLOWING of horns and trumpets, the CRASHING of symbols, and LOUD PLAYING on harps and lyres. But as the Ark of the Lord’s covenant entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David DANCING and LEAPING for joy, she was filled with contempt for him. (16:1-6 also good stuff).”
v Don’t stop dancing once “church” is over. à Romans 12:4-8 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. THE IMPORTANT THING IS ACTION!!!

Challenge
l RELEASE all emotions to Him…
l REVOLUTIONIZE all your thoughts for Him…
l RENOVATE the way you move for Him…
l The way you present yourself to God tells Him something (Luke 6). Handshake; high five; give me something; I’m not worthy; pick me up.
] Hebrew Words: YODAH (extend your hands), TODAH (lift up your hands), TAQUA (clap), TEHILLAH (sing), HALLAL (celebrate), KARAR (dance)
l Mark 14:22-25 Communion v26 “Then they sang a hymn and went out…”
l Ephesians 5:19 “sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts.”
l 1Timothy 2:8 “So whenever you assemble, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.”
l Revelation 7:9-12 “…I saw a vast crowd…from every nation, tribe, people and language standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed inwhite and held palm branches in their hands. And they were shouting with a mighty shout, “Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!” And all the angels were standing around the throne…and they fell face down before the throne and worshiped God. They said, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and forever. Amen!”

MIND
July 9, 2006
Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Mark 12:29-31 Jesus replied, "The most important commandment is this: `Listen, O Israel! The LORD our God is the one and only LORD. No other commandment is greater than these."

Understanding Your Mind
 Eskimo Wolf Hunters: you thoughts can consume you to the point of death
 Personal Aspect: Your Thoughts
 Begin to Live in the Moment (18th Century Teacher)

How do I approach my day?
 Take captive every thought à 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV) “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
 2Corinthians 10 (Message)“We use powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of a life shaped by Jesus.” (Sermon on the mount redoing the 10 commands)
 Let Jesus revolutionize your thinking  Romans 12:2 "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
 Revolutionized focus à Philippians 4:8-9 “And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true & honorable and right. Think about things that are pure & lovely & admirable. Think about things that are excellent & worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned from me and heard from me and saw me doing, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Challenge
 RELEASE all emotions to Him…
 REVOLUTIONIZE all your thoughts for Him…
 (Message)“I’d say you’ll do your best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into His most excellent harmonies.”
