THERE ARE BLESSINGS IN PAYING ATTENTION TO GODLY TEACHING

Read 2Timothy 3:14-17

GAIN WISDOM
** We are constantly bombarded by Television, Radio, News and other voices guiding our thinking. Solomon asked for wisdom from God alone. David in Psalm 119 talks of God's law with a love few of us have known because it shaped his life.
** John 16:12-14

RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
** Take the time to pray for God's Spirit to speak every time you read your Bible or before you listen to a talk from a pastor.
** John 14:15-18

UNDERSTAND RIGHT AND WRONG
** We may not want it but it will give so much more fulfillment to our lives.
** John 16:8-10
** Hebrews 4:12-13

PUT IT TO WORK
** Most of us know how to live a pure life, but few in this world respond to it.
** We brought Zach on stage and talked of teenage boys spending more time in front of the mirror than girls... it was fun.
** James 1:22-27

EQUIP US TO SERVE OTHERS
** Ephesians 4:11-13
** My job exists for you. My role is to help you gain wisdom, be attentive to the Holy Spirit, discern right choices, and act on what you've learned.

ACTS POEMS: Communion Part 4

September 3, 2006
"COMMUNION"

Hello all...
THis past week, we met at the Gambills for "second breakfast" and the day was tremendous. About 30 of us enjoyed our family sunday over the holiday weekend. We began the morning with a few worship songs and then Adam spoke for a few minutes on "the love feast" that the early church would celebrate before communion.

In 1Corinthians 11, we find that the church in Corinth was not practicing hospitality and were unaware of the disunity they were causing. Several of their members were gorging themselves on the meal and not saving the food for others. They in turn were disgracing the actual communion feast because of it.

In Acts 2, we see that the church shared their meals with great joy and generosity. This was the ideal way to celebrate the feast and the communion ceremony.

After Adam's talk, we took the bread and juice to remember Jesus. Finally, we ate together, laughed, talked, the kids played and the adults discussed the future of the Orchard in the next month or so. We posted more pics on the kidzone blog.
