Adam's TUESDAY thoughts - September 9, 2014

Hi friends,
We have begun a new work for the Kingdom in the Bloomington-Normal, IL area. We are using some video teaching from the Urbana Campus as our main teaching, but I am also sharing what we're calling Adam's Thought of the Night. Each week, we will plan on looking at the building blocks of the future Bloomington-Normal Campus. Here's the notes from the first one:

NOTES
We want to equip everyone with the ability to share the heart of our church at any place and at any time. So, we have compiled a list of 5 building blocks that you could write on a napkin or scrap of paper in any conversation wherever you may be (Starbucks, restaurant, home, etc.)
Building Blocks of the BN Vineyard Campus: Napkin Material
- the Five Cs
- Culture of Invitation
- Community of Hope
- Continue Jesus' Ministry
- Commitment to Excellence
- Carriers of the Gospel of Grace

This week, we will begin to unpack what it means for us to have a "Culture of Invitation"
Introduction
- Why do we show pics of our family? on our phones, wallet, social media?
- My wife... My kids
- Every time I update Twitter/Facebook/Instagram, I'm inviting you into the story of my family…
- I'm inviting you to be a part of what's most important to me

How did Jesus do this?
- Jesus' message - the Kingdom is here!
- Jesus' invitation: come and be a part of that Kingdom with me.
- While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. (Matthew 4:18-22 ESV)
- As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. (Matthew 9:9 ESV)
- And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:35-38 ESV)
- Sent out the 12 & 72

THE KEY

***Always inviting people back into His relationship with the Father.***

REMEMBER - Never lost the "culture of invitation" all the way to his death…
1) Guard in the garden
2) thief on cross

- Now, it's our turn - Jesus is inviting us to continue the invitation!
