JESUS QUOTES…
• At last the time has come! The Kingdom of God is near! Turn from your sins and believe this Good News!
• Come, be my disciples, and I will show you how to fish for people!
• Be silent! Come out of the man.
• We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too, because that is why I came.
• I want to. Be healed!
• My son, your sins are forgiven.
• Come, be my disciple.
• Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call sinners, not those who think they are already good enough.
THE TEACHER’S VOICE
• Jesus doesn’t have to say much to those who are ready for him to speak.
– Jesus goes to Galilee after JB has prepared the way.
– Eager fishermen ready to see the Messiah.
– Demon possessed man… the demons themselves.
– His disciples.
– A man with leprosy.
– A paralyzed man.
– A tax collector hated on all sides.
– Even the Pharisees… though they didn’t like his answers.
• Jesus speaks with such authority (1:21-28, 2:10) that everyone listens… crowds, individuals, demons & disease.
– Have you ever heard someone with that kind of charisma?
– What would it sound like in 1st century Judea? In the US in 2009?
• Jesus has the right words no matter what your heart needs to hear:
– Believe!
– Follow!
– Be healed!
– I forgive you!
Beginning the listening process.
Today, we must tune our ears to a different station…
· We are going to challenge you to weekly listening to a different VOICE… Jesus, the prophet Isaiah, King David, the martyrs and James the brother of Jesus.
· We are going to challenge you to remove authority from any VOICE save that of God alone!
· We are going to challenge you to read, read, read Scripture.
· We are going to challenge you to rethink the way you live in 2009.
· We are going to challenge you to live like what God has to say actually matters!
