1Peter 5
"Setting apart Jason (and Amanda) for Pastoral Ministry"


Stepping Out to Serve
**Jason Hunley has come forward to offer his life in service to Jesus and specifically to the ministry of the Orchard Church.
**He has been trained as a Developer in our church.
**He has been leading a Tree Group for children.
**He has written a paper. (copies of Jason's paper were passed out to the church.)
**He has been interviewed by the board.
**Now, we will be setting him apart publicly.

Set Apart By the Orchard
**What is the vision of the OC?
**What are our core values?
**Will you submit your life to fulfilling this vision & never compromising our values?

Set Apart By Peter
**1Peter 5:1-5 "And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don't lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example. And when the Great Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of never-ending glory and honor. In the same way, you younger men must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you, serve each other in humility, for "God opposes the proud but favors the humble.”
**Will you humbly accept a life of service to Jesus and His church?
**Will you strive to be a man of character both at home and in the community?

A Set Apart Wife
**1Timothy 3:11 “In the same way, their wives must be respected and must not slander others. They must exercise self-control and be faithful in everything they do.”
**Amanda, will you pledge yourself to support your husband both publicly and privately?
**Will you be his faithful partner in service to Jesus?

A Set Apart Friend
**I understand there is a man here who will vouch for Jason’s character and heart.
**Titus 2:6-7 “In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely. And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching.”
**Jeff, will you set yourself apart as a teacher, mentor and friend when Jason needs you?

A Church Who Loves Him
 Hebrews 13:17-18 “Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit. Pray for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to live honorably in everything we do.”
 Church, will you support and pray for Jason?

Set Apart Through Prayer
 Acts 13:2-3 ”One day as these men were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Dedicate Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.“ So after more fasting and prayer, the men laid their hands on them and sent them on their way.”
 Will you join me as we pray for Jason?

We concluded our evening with a POWERFUL time of laying on of hands for the Hunleys. At one point, the rain beating down on the warehouse felt like God's showers of blessing were falling as we prayed. It was amazing.
