Holy Spirit Night - July 27 (Saturday)

The Physical Act of Worship

We need to tear down a stronghold - 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Have you ever noticed that something is unlocked through the act of physical touch?
·      Think of a dating relationship
·      Sitting closely
·      Hold hands
·      Kissing
·      The more intimate the physical touch… the deeper the relationship goes.

1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT)
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

·      Not just for charismatic churches
o   All churches
o   All areas your worship
o   Every home
o   Every prayer closet
o   Me… shower/car

1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT)
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

·      Paul wants everyone to say “Yes” to this
o   Going for those most likely to say “no”
o   Why does he say dudes?
o   Most men struggle with this
o   This is not just a male issue
o   I believe if the men would worship physically it would unlock something
o   This is NOT a personality issue
o   If that is your excuse… it might be a lie that you are believing (2Cor 10)

1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT)
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

·      Not a mental exercise, but a physical expression to God
o   James Caan in ELF - youre not singing dad but just mouthing words
o   Release Your Voice
1. Speaking - Psalm 34:1 says, "I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips."
2. Shouting - Psalm 27:6 says, "Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord."
3. Singing - Psalm 47:6 says, "Sing praises to God, sing praises to our King, sing praises."
o   Even golf fans clap!
o   Release Your Hands
1. Playing Instruments - Psalm 33:2, 3 says, "Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to him on the ten stringed lyre. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy."
2. Clapping - Psalm 47:1 says, "Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy."
3. Lifting Hands - Psalm 63:4 says, "I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands."
o   Release Your Body
1. Bowing - Psalm 95:6 says, "Come let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker."
2. Standing - Psalm 119:120 says, "My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws." NOT because the leader asked you to do it.
3. Dancing - Psalm 149:3 says, "Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp."

1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT)
In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger & controversy.

·      No one’s aloud to be mad about this
o   I can’t do this
§  See pictures below
§  Sporting events
§  Kids sporting event
§  Concerts

o   It’s not important – think of relationships (kids, spouse, other)
o   God has all 5 love languages
o   Saul’s daughter Michal (mishael) is cursed because she makes fun of David.

Unlock Freedom in worship
·      Your freedom unlocks other’s freedom
·      Your freedom unlocks pain, relationships, value, finances, judgment of others
·      You have permission tonight!
·      We need a childlike heart of worship
